Jul 03, 2023

Police have released the name of the man killed Saturday morning in a traffic crash near Rosebush.

Funeral arrangements are pending for Roger Stalter, 68, who died after his motorcycle ran into a pickup truck pulling a trailer just before 11 a.m. in the 1000 block of Rosebush Road.

Isabella County Sheriff Michael Main said Saturday that Stalter was riding a 2001 Harley Davidson when he hit the trailer, which was being pulled by a 22-year-old Owosso man.

As deputies were on their way to the accident scene just west of Rosebush, they were told that the motorcyclist was trapped between the pickup and trailer, Main said.

When first responders arrived, they found Stalter dead from head injuries, the sheriff said.

"During the investigation, it was determined that the pickup truck was turning left into a driveway, the motorcyclist was traveling the same direction and failed to be able stop or yield to the vehicle in front of him, the motorcyclist then collided with the pickup," Main said.

The man driving the pickup truck was not injured.

Mobile Medical Response ambulance service and the Isabella Northeast Fire Department assisted deputies at the accident.
